We are a Nairobi metal fabrication workshop. Window grills, balustrades, staircases and gates, welded and finished by the same people who measured them. Nairobi Staircase Chuma Railing Specialists is simply the Swahili for iron.
Fabricated, not assembled
A great deal of Nairobi metalwork is imported kit bolted together on site. It goes up quickly, it costs less, and every bolted joint is where movement and corrosion begin. We weld, grind and dress our joints so an assembly reads as one piece and stays tight.
How we work
- Hot-dip galvanised before powder coating on anything that sees weather.
- Fixings into the structural reveal with chemical anchors, never into plaster.
- An escape release on at least one opening per floor, raised on every job.
- Welds ground back and dressed before finishing, not filled and painted over.
- Stainless grade stated on the quotation: 304 or 316, never 201 sold as stainless.
- Staged payments with an M-Pesa receipt at each stage.
What we will not do
Fit a padlocked stair gate. Quote a staircase from a photograph. Substitute plain toughened glass for laminated where a balustrade is the only thing preventing a fall. Or paint mild steel for an exposed elevation and call it finished.
Credentials and the warranty
Registration, insurance cover and the workmanship warranty period are stated in writing on the quotation. So is the finish specification, which is the part that determines whether the warranty is worth anything on external work.
Mild steel painted on site and mild steel hot-dip galvanised before coating carry very different lifespans on a Nairobi balcony, and the difference is invisible on the day of handover. Ask what the metal actually is, how it was prepared, and whether the welds were treated. Rust returning at the welds within two years is the commonest complaint in this trade.
