How does a shared stair gate work with several flats?

Carefully. Every household on the secured side needs to be able to open it from inside without a key, which usually means a thumb-turn or lever release rather than a padlock. We will not fit a shared gate that only one tenant can open, in a fire that is a trap for everyone else.

Do our openings need individual measuring?

Sized to the stair, not the room

Everything is carried, up a narrow stair with a half-landing. The turn caps the section length more tightly than any doorway does.

We measure the turn before fabricating, and joint long runs in the workshop where the sleeve can be made properly.
