Opening sizes for grills, run lengths for railings, and a photo of what is there now. That is enough for a rate and an honest view on whether your existing metalwork needs refixing rather than replacing.
Useful things to include
- Opening sizes for grills, width and height of each
- Run lengths for railings, and the drop they are protecting
- What the fixings go into: plaster, block, stone or a suspended slab
- Whether the elevation is exposed, which decides painted versus galvanised
- For staircases, floor-to-floor height and the opening size above
If you already have grills
Check what they are fixed into before assuming you need new ones. Across Lang'ata, Karen C and much of the older stock, perfectly good bars were anchored into plaster rather than the structural reveal. Refixing costs a fraction of replacement and is the actual job.
